Future Events

What do cars in the future look like?

I saw pics of what people in the 1950's thought cars in the future would look like. They were so way gone. Those strange birds never left their hangars. They thought that everybody in the future would have a backyard helicopter, and cars in the year 2000 would fly in the air.

Well, can we do better?

Yes, using HDR assisted astral time travel, I have seen the cars of 2052. They do not fly or swim. They look like little toys, smaller than a mini and barely enough room inside for one adult, let alone two. They still use gasoline, not diesel or electric. It seems that hybrids were not all that.

For some reason, no solar cars, or hydrogen fuel cell cars. No electrics...

I did not see scooters on the road, or even bikes. It was tiny micro cars. I think they did 200-300mpg with their puny "lawnmower" engines. Super slow acceleration and almost no ability to haul goods.

In contrast to the cars of today with an average of 300 horsepower, these had 3. They used regular gasoline and seemed made of tin foil and plastic. They looked more like appliances "toasters" than machines "trucks"

No digital controls, everything analog, looking max retro to me. NO onboard computer with gps and maps, instead a simple fuel gauge, but no speedometer or odometer -. stick, instead of automatic transmission, and no power steering, power brakes, or even air conditioning.

What about future clothes?

Gone are the suit and tie, as well as any pretense of formality. Most clothes are loose fitting and comfortable, but functional. Like a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.

As for houses, they were most odd. All black glass three stories tall the new construction, but also a lot of old prewar houses were still around, but these had modern satellite dishes on them.

The new houses were a mix of industrial warehouse and prefab apartment. Imagine living in an office building and not going to work, but telecommuting. Strange place, the future be.

Did not see any malls, schools, hospitals, police departments, fire stations, or even churches. Even now you see that people download videos over the internet instead of going to a movie theater. Few people go out as much as before. The trend is toward more isolation.

Few people nowadays go to a parade, or the state fair, or even a carnival. Social scientists call this process cocooning. In the future, people are even more antisocial than now.

You see the trend, from going to a classy restaurant, to a fast food, to a drive thru, to getting a pizza delivered to your door. The trend is to minimize social interactions. From a crowded factory floor to an isolated office, to telecommuting.

We see the transition From talking to people, face to face, and getting deals done, to sending emails over the internet and submitting bids via IM. From floor traders haggling over the price to computers electronically following preprogrammed algorithms in an attempt to maximize value.

The future feels spooky and sterile. It may seem cold and clean, but also lacking in so many ways. Like a cold dry desert it feels devoid of life and purpose.
